AI & Your Data
Last Updated: August 1, 2026
SellerAide is built on large language models that we do not own or operate. That is the whole point of the product — but it also means your content leaves our servers. This page explains exactly what that involves, in plain language. It summarizes and links to the binding terms in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; where this page and those documents differ, those documents control.
The short version
- When you use an AI feature, the content that feature needs is sent to a third-party AI provider — Anthropic (Claude) by default, or Google (Gemini) when we have that alternate configured.
- We use only paid commercial API tiers. Under those terms, neither provider trains their models on your inputs or outputs. We do not train models on your content either.
- Your password, payment card details, OAuth tokens, and marketplace buyer data are never sent to an AI provider.
- Once your content reaches a provider, it is handled under their security and terms. We chose them carefully, but we do not control them. If that is unacceptable for a particular piece of content, do not put that content into the Service.
1. Which providers we use
Anthropic PBC (Claude API) — United States. This is our default provider for listing generation, rewriting, auditing, optimization, and extracting fields from receipts, invoices, and bills you upload. Processed under Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service.
Google LLC (Gemini API) — United States. A maintained alternate provider for the same text features, and the provider we use for AI image generation (logo variants and product mockups). Processed under the Google Cloud / Vertex AI commercial API terms.
Both are listed with their regions and security attestations on our Sub-processors page. We use commercial API tiers only — never consumer chat products. We will update that page before adding a new AI provider that materially changes how your data is processed.
2. What is sent
Only what the feature you invoked actually requires. Depending on the feature, that can include:
- Product descriptions and details you type or import
- Listing fields you are auditing, rewriting, or optimizing — titles, bullets, descriptions, keywords, item specifics
- Brand voice samples and brand assets, including source logo images when you generate AI logo variants or mockups
- Website text you explicitly ask the AI to analyze
- The image or PDF of any receipt, invoice, or bill you upload to the document inbox, so the provider can extract vendor, date, totals, and line items
- Listing content submitted through the free audit tool or the Chrome extension
3. What is never sent
- Your password — we never have it; only a salted hash held by Supabase Auth.
- Payment card details — these live with Stripe; we never see a full card number or CVC.
- OAuth tokens for any connected marketplace or accounting account.
- Buyer personal data from marketplace integrations, and the buyer names and shipping addresses in any shipping-cost file you import.
- QuickBooks Online data — nothing exchanged with QuickBooks is ever sent to an AI provider.
- Other users' content. Each AI request is processed for the one authenticated user who initiated it. We do not combine one customer's data with another's to produce a result.
4. No training on your data
Anthropic (under its Commercial Terms of Service) and Google (under the paid Gemini / Vertex AI commercial terms) both commit that inputs and outputs from their paid APIs are not used to train their models. We do not use your content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any model, and we do not build derivative datasets — training corpora, prompt libraries indexed on customer data, or anything similar — out of what you submit.
5. What is outside our control
This is the part we want to be unambiguous about, because it is the part a security page can quietly gloss over.
We encrypt your data in transit and at rest, we scope every record to your account with row-level security, and we send AI providers the minimum content a feature needs. But once your content is transmitted to Anthropic or Google, it is processed on their infrastructure, under their security controls, their terms, and their policies. We select providers that hold SOC 2 Type II or equivalent independent attestation and that contract against training on customer data, and we review them at least annually. We cannot audit their internal systems, guarantee their uptime or security, or control a change they make to their own practices.
Accordingly, and as set out in our Terms of Service: we are not liable for the acts, omissions, outages, security incidents, or policy changes of third-party AI providers. Your use of AI features reflects your acceptance of that allocation of risk.
Practical guidance: treat AI features the way you would treat any external service. Do not paste trade secrets, third-party confidential information, personal data about your customers, or anything you are contractually forbidden from disclosing to a sub-processor. The Service is designed for product and listing content, and that is what it should receive.
6. AI output is not guaranteed
Separately from how your data is handled: AI output can be wrong. It may contain factual errors, reflect bias present in training data, unintentionally resemble third-party content, or be unsuitable for your marketplace or jurisdiction. It is provided as is, with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, originality, or fitness for a particular purpose.
You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving everything before you publish it. We are not liable for listing removals, marketplace penalties, account suspensions, or third-party claims arising from AI-generated content you chose to publish. See Terms §4 for the binding language, including the separate disclaimer covering product-research estimates and extracted accounting figures.
7. Using SellerAide without AI
Not everything in the Service calls an AI provider. Listing validation and quality scoring are fully deterministic — rule-based checks that run on our own servers and send nothing to a third-party model. Your accounting, inventory, and P&L calculations are likewise computed by us, not by an AI. If you never invoke an AI feature, no listing content is sent to Anthropic or Google.
8. If you use the free audit or the Chrome extension
The free listing audit works without an account, and the Chrome extension can send a product page you are viewing to it. Content submitted that way is still processed by the AI providers described above, exactly as it would be for a signed-in user. Anonymous audits are not associated with an account unless you sign in and choose to save one, and are retained only briefly for operational, security, and abuse-prevention purposes.
9. Your choices
- Don't submit it. The most complete control you have is over what you put into the Service in the first place.
- Use the deterministic features. Validation and scoring never call an AI provider.
- Delete your content. You can delete listings and uploaded documents at any time; deleting your account removes your personal data within 30 days, subject to the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.
- Ask us. If you need to know whether a specific workflow touches an AI provider, email us and we will tell you plainly.
10. Changes
If we change AI providers, add one, or materially change what is sent to them, we will update this page and our Sub-processors page before the change takes effect, and give notice as required by Terms §13.
